Oh no. More evidence that the Marxist-Leninist drive-by media are ruthlessly suppressing the viewpoint of global warming ‘skeptics’ at the Heartland Institute’s “2009 International Conference on Climate Change”!

  • Reuters reports on a speech by Czech President Václav Klaus at Columbia University on the current economic crisis, and briefly mentions the conference without saying anything bad about it.
  • Bloomberg reports on the conference in “he said, she said” fashion. They don’t say anything bad about the conference either.
  • The Wall Street Journal transcribes an interview with Klaus on global warming. Guess whether they said anything bad about the conference?

At any rate, it seems that Klaus is getting a bit more media attention at the ‘conference’ than Harrison Schmitt, John Coleman, James Hansen, Steven Chu, or the Japanese — at least for now. I guess we didn’t see that coming.

(Greenfyre has a more extensive collection of responses to the ‘conference’, mostly from the non-mainstream media.)

Update 2009-03-10: Kevin Grandia reports on two talks from the ‘conference’ proper.

Update 2009-03-11: Anarchist6[zero]6 says,

The cadre of online denialists have been keen to push the idea that consensus on climate changing is falling apart and more and more people are seeing ‘the truth’ but if the attendance at the event is anything to go by, it is the total opposite; when announced the event was billed at bringing together 1000 scientists, economists and politicians. Then it dropped to 800 and now it seems [see Bloomberg above] there is only 600 attending (including that amazing 3-ish proper scientists but lots of amateurs!) – and this given the event is free and held in the land of the free, the spiritual home of denialism – it seems a poor turnout.
