International Journal of Inactivism (now supplanted by Decoding SwiftHack)

We are going to be suppressed by the mainstream media

poll-20090307The poll to predict the take-home message of the upcoming ‘”2009 International Conference on Climate Change” is still running! Right now, the hottest predictions are “Fire James Hansen!” followed closely by “Japanese now dispute global warming!”

However, here’s a press release from the Heartland Institute web site which suggests that the conference’s centre of attention may turn out to be… former astronaut Harrison Schmitt.1 Or not. Well, you decide:

Schmitt will be available for interviews during the conference, March 8-10, at the Marriott Marquis, 1535 Broadway (corner of 45th Street).

To arrange interview time with Jack Schmitt or any of the other conference speakers, contact Dan Miller (dmiller@heartland.org) at (312) 377-4000, or Tammy Nash (tnash@heartland.org), (312) 377-4000.

Personally, I think it’ll be more interesting to interview some people who are not speakers:

[…] in fact when one of the coal supporters was asked why they were there, his response was, “I don’t know I’m just an intern.”

Footnotes

  1. Brian D mentioned that he voted for “Harrison Schmitt for President!” but somehow his vote isn’t showing up. Weird.

  1. I voted again and it seems to be showing. Uncanny.

I’d also like to thank our friends at The Onion for covering our friends at Heartland… my friends.

  4. Speaking of conferences, I see that the denialosphere is in a froth this weekend because they’re getting some unwelcome attention from social scientists.
