I predicted that Roy Green, being a talk show host who happened to be a climate crank, wouldn’t simply be content to let the Littlemore vs. Monckton debate end where it was, and he’d try to add some more ‘equal time’ to their side of the global warming ‘debate’. And indeed, this was exactly what happened! After reeling off some inactivist talking points, and inviting an academic to talk about the Medieval Warm Period,1 Green said this at 10′ 40″:
By the way, 100% of e-mails disagreed with the IPCC and the global warming alarmism. 100% of e-mails to me at
Roy.Green@corusent.comdisagreed with the IPCC. Not 98, not 95, not 99.9; 100%. So the phone lines are open to you at 1877-760-0006 […]
Wow, that’s such a stunning display of power! Except…
- this impressive “100%” figure is almost certainly not a result of any sort of mass ‘conversion’, but rather merely a mass mobilization of pre-existing inactivists, as I pointed out earlier;2 and
- besides — as inactivists themselves like to say — consensus isn’t truth, so I wonder what Roy Green’s trying to do by bringing up a purported ‘consensus’ against the IPCC!
Anyway, if you get the chance, you should consider phoning in, e-mailing, etc. Roy Green to voice your protests against his and Monckton’s talking points. And if Green won’t lend you his ears, then let’s hear about it!
- While, of course, totally omitting to point out that the MWP was a largely European phenomenon, not a global one.
- A certain sort of mass mobilization, perhaps? Nah, that’ll be too uncharitable an interpretation…
Update 2008-08-24: Well, I just sent an e-mail to Roy Green, so it’s no longer 100% (unless he decides to
ignore it freedom it away).
